Automotive distributors directory 2026
Automotive Distributors in Egypt
GB Corp’s GB Auto arm — Hyundai, Mazda, Chery, Changan, Haval, Bajaj three-wheelers — is the EGX-visible volume story. Mansour Automotive, still the General Motors house, added MG, Peugeot, Opel and Isuzu and claims more than a hundred outlets plus a joint factory with GM. Ezz Elarab took the prestige and specialist end: Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Jeep, Volvo, DS and related lines. Bavarian Auto Group, now inside the Global Auto vehicle that Ali & Sons backed, remains the BMW and MINI door. Aboul Fotouh is the family name older briefs still attach to Nissan retail even though Nissan Motor Egypt now runs a wholly owned Giza plant and a multi-dealer network. Customs, the import-licence queue and local CKD rules decide who has cars to sell in a given quarter. This page maps those houses and the state counters around them, not every badge advertised on the Ring Road.

How the market is structured
How a car is licensed, assembled or stranded in Egypt
Local
Listed and family houses that import, assemble and retail. GB Auto and Mansour set volume; Ezz Elarab and the Bavarian file set prestige; older Nissan families now sit inside a principal-owned dealer net.
- GB Auto (GB Corp)
- Mansour Automotive
- Aboul Fotouh Automotive
- Ezz Elarab Group
- Abou Ghaly Motors
- Seoudi Group Automotive
- Alkan Auto
Multinational
Nissan Motor Egypt’s Giza plant, GM’s assembly joint hall and Toyota’s importer structure. Rare in the Gulf model; decisive here because CKD changes duty and dollar access.
- Nissan Motor Egypt
- General Motors Egypt
- Toyota Egypt
Regional
Gulf capital inside Egyptian prestige retail — Ali & Sons behind Global Auto / Bavarian — plus any GCC group that adds a Cairo showroom without taking the Hyundai or GM file.
- Bavarian Auto Group (Global Auto)
Dealer groups, leasing & aftermarket
Customs, the trade ministry, IDA industrial licences, the Central Bank FX window and in-group finance companies that decide whether a booked car exists this month.
- GB Capital (Drive)
- Mansour Finance
- Egyptian Customs Authority
- Ministry of Trade and Industry
- Industrial Development Authority
- Central Bank of Egypt (import-FX window)
- Karnak Group (Nissan dealer, Upper Egypt)
Market structure
CKD halls versus the Ring Road showroom
A 10th of Ramadan kit is a customs product before it is a car. Duty, local-content talk and dollar priority attach to the hall, which is why GB Auto and Mansour will defend assembly even when a CBU from a Gulf free zone looks cheaper on a quiet week.
Showroom staff then sell whatever the hall or the LC released. Mystery shops that treat empty floors as “poor demand” in a crunch year are usually measuring the Central Bank, not the household.
Upper Egypt is a different dealer math
Greater Cairo and Alexandria absorb advertising. Qena, Luxor and Aswan absorb Nissan through houses such as Karnak, with service bays that double as the brand’s only physical promise. A national launch that staffs only Sheikh Zayed will under-read the South Valley.
Three-wheelers and light commercials — Bajaj at GB Auto, Isuzu at Mansour — are the other Egypt that passenger-car teams skip. Those tickets are SME and last-mile, and they keep the same groups cash-generative when CBU cars are stuck at the port.
What is moving
What is moving the automotive market in Egypt
Pound cycles and the LC queue
When dollars are scarce, CBU prestige stock vanishes first and CKD halls keep a trickle of volume badges. A quarterly share number that ignores the FX window is a fiction.
China-origin volume inside GB and Mansour
Chery, Changan, Haval and MG now sit on the same groups that once lived on Hyundai and Chevrolet. The consideration set for a first family SUV has split, and workshop tooling has not always kept up.
Captive finance as the real closer
Drive and Mansour Finance underwrite tickets that state banks will not. Price research that only quotes the cash list will miss the instalment a household actually signs.
Principal-owned plants versus family agencies
Nissan’s wholly owned hall and GM’s joint plant change who appoints whom. Dealer families still retail, but the factory can add or drop a city partner without selling the brand file.
BioNixus fieldwork
How BioNixus studies automotive distributors and dealer groups in Egypt
- Ring Road and Sheikh Zayed mystery shops that log empty floors against LC news, not against a demand story.
- Instalment reconstructions with Drive and Mansour Finance on the same Hyundai or MG ticket a cash list would mis-price.
- Plant-gate conversations in 10th of Ramadan and Giza on CKD kit arrivals versus CBU holds at Alexandria.
- South Valley Nissan dealer visits (Karnak and peers) so a “national” brief is not only a Cairo sample.
Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Who are the two volume houses a passenger-car brief must name?
GB Auto for Hyundai and a cluster of China-origin SUVs, and Mansour Automotive for GM nameplates plus MG and Peugeot. Share between them moves with FX and CKD output, not with a single annual league table.
Is Aboul Fotouh still the Nissan importer?
Nissan Motor Egypt owns the Giza plant and appoints a dealer net. Aboul Fotouh remains a family automotive name in older briefs and in some retail/aftersales maps; it is no longer the whole file.
Why does Bavarian Auto Group appear as Regional?
Because Global Auto, the vehicle behind the BMW file, is tied to Ali & Sons, an Abu Dhabi group. The showrooms are Egyptian; the ownership conversation is Gulf.
What does Egyptian Customs actually decide?
Valuation, duty and physical release of both CBU and CKD consignments. Without a matching letter of credit in tight-dollar seasons, the yard does not open.
How does BioNixus research Egyptian distributor houses?
Cairo and Alexandria mystery shops; plant-gate and customs-timing interviews; Drive and Mansour Finance instalment reconstructions; and Upper Egypt dealer visits on the Nissan net.
Does EGX market capitalisation set the order of this list?
Listing status explains why GB Corp is transparent, not why it sits where it sits on the page. Sequence is an account map — assembler, prestige house, factory, state counter — not a share ranking.
