Construction & contracting directory 2026
Construction Companies in Kuwait
Combined Group Contracting, Mushrif Trading & Contracting and Ahmadiah Contracting & Trading are the three listed or widely named local books BioNixus hears from private and semi-private owners. Kharafi National and the wider Kharafi civil slice take oil-sector and large infrastructure files that a mid-rise house cannot staff. Al-Hani Construction remains the family builder that many Kuwait City commercial plots still call. The Ministry of Public Works is both classifier and offtaker for roads, schools and many government buildings; Kuwait Oil Company and the KPC family add a second industrial buyer that MPW class alone does not unlock. This page maps those houses and the two public desks. It is not a list of every fit-out crew in Shuwaikh.

How the market is structured
How an MPW grade becomes a Kuwait award
Local
Combined Group, Mushrif, Ahmadiah, Kharafi National, Al-Hani and the mid-size houses — Kuwaiti books that still take most MPW and private building awards.
- Combined Group Contracting
- Mushrif Trading & Contracting
- Ahmadiah Contracting & Trading
- Kharafi National
- Mohamed Abdulmohsin Al-Kharafi & Sons (civil slice)
- Al-Hani Construction
- Gulf Eyadah General Trading & Contracting
- United Facilities Construction
- Combined Group / Mushrif joint-venture vehicles
Multinational
China State’s Kuwait vehicle is the foreign building name on this map. Other Asian EPCs appear on oil-sector packages beside Kharafi.
- China State Construction — Kuwait
Regional
Kharafi group civil already behaves like a regional book on some Gulf files, but the buying centre that matters here is still Ahmadi or Kuwait City.
Developers, PMCs & suppliers
MPW as classifier and offtaker, CAPT as the envelope desk, KOC as the oil-sector buyer, and the commerce ministry as the trade-licence counter.
- Ministry of Public Works (MPW)
- Kuwait Oil Company (capital projects)
- Central Agency for Public Tenders
- Ministry of Commerce and Industry
Market structure
Capital commercial versus Ahmadi industrial
Kuwait City and Hawalli awards are clinics, offices and private compounds. Ahmadi and Shuaiba awards are process civil that need KPC badges and different camp rules. Combined Group and Al-Hani live on the first slice; Kharafi National lives on the second. A single “Kuwait contractor NPS” cell that mixes those seats will not survive the first client review.
South-shore residential files in Fahaheel and Abu Halifa often inherit the same houses as the capital, not the oil-sector camp. Treat them as a suburban extension of the city book unless the owner is KPC.
What is moving
What is moving construction in Kuwait
MPW versus KPC as two buyers
A school in Farwaniya and a civil job in Ahmadi do not share a prequalification list. Sampling only MPW estimators will miss the oil-sector book.
Listed local houses as the private default
Combined Group, Mushrif and Ahmadiah still take the commercial plots that Kharafi is too heavy for. A brief that only names Kharafi will over-weight oil civil.
CAPT envelopes beside direct awards
Some ministry files still open in public. Others move on a direct MPW invitation. Fieldwork has to ask which route the last package used.
Shuwaikh as the plant gate
Steel and equipment still clear the industrial port belt. Method statements that ignore customs timing will mis-read programme risk on a Hawalli pour.
BioNixus fieldwork
How BioNixus studies construction and contracting companies in Kuwait
- Paired MPW and KOC procurement interviews in the same week to catch why a school-class house lost an Ahmadi civil file.
- Shuwaikh yard walks that separate plant bound for Hawalli plots from plant bound for Shuaiba.
- Class-certificate checks against the MPW grade printed in CAPT envelopes.
- Al-Hani and Combined Group site-gate conversations on Kuwait City commercial plots that never see a KPC badge.
Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Who classifies contractors in Kuwait?
The Ministry of Public Works issues the public-works class. CAPT opens many envelopes. KPC companies add their own prequalification. The commerce ministry issues the trade licence.
Is Kharafi the only name that matters?
No. Combined Group, Mushrif, Ahmadiah and Al-Hani take most private and many MPW building files. Kharafi dominates larger oil-sector and infrastructure packages.
Does an MPW class unlock KOC work?
It helps; it does not unlock. Oil-sector civil needs KPC prequalification, badges and often a different PMC. Do not brief the two buyers as one.
Where does plant enter?
Shuwaikh and Shuaiba. The contractor named the yard in the method statement. Inland haul to Ahmadi is a different truck ticket from a Hawalli plot.
How does BioNixus research Kuwait contractors?
MPW and KOC procurement interviews; Shuwaikh and Ahmadi gate walks; and class-certificate checks against the grade printed in CAPT and ministry letters.
Is row order a ranking by awarded dinars?
No. Sequence is a fieldwork map of classified houses and the two public buyers. Nothing claims one firm out-awards another.
