Medtech companies directory 2026
Medical Device Companies in India
Poly Medicure, Hindustan Syringes & Medical Devices, Trivitron, Skanray, Meril, Transasia and BPL Medical Technologies are the domestic names already on government rate contracts and on private-chain vendor lists. CDSCO’s medical-device rules (the 2017 framework and the licence waves that followed) turned a loosely notified sector into a registrant-and-importer market. AIIMS and other central institutes still set the public specification many state tenders copy. Apollo’s central procurement is the private benchmark; other chains (Fortis, Max, Manipal, Narayana, Medanta) run their own capital committees. Multinational imaging and implant houses keep Indian subsidiaries and still need a local importer or C&F for many SKUs. BioNixus studies those named licences, rate contracts and chain vendor codes.

What is moving
What is moving the medical device market in India
CDSCO licence waves and importer accountability
Classification waves turned informal import books into licensed files; a hospital store now asks for the CDSCO number before it opens a new vendor code.
PLI and domestic preference on public lots
Production-linked incentive and make-in-India language on GeM and institute tenders have pulled Skanray, BPL, Meril and Poly Medicure onto lots import houses used to treat as automatic.
Private-chain capital cycles
Apollo, Fortis, Max, Manipal and Narayana refresh imaging and OR suites on committee calendars that a Delhi hotel meeting will not unlock.
State-corporation fragmentation
TNMSC, KMSCL and their peers reset consumable prices on their own clocks; a single AIIMS rate contract is not a national public win.
BioNixus fieldwork
How BioNixus studies medical device companies in India
- CDSCO licence-to-SKU traces so the number on the file matches the carton a district store unwraps.
- AIIMS and named state-corporation rate-contract reconstructions (TNMSC, KMSCL and peers) treated as separate buyers.
- Apollo, Fortis, Max and Narayana vendor-code and capital-committee interviews on different calendars.
- Teaching-hospital versus district installed-base walks for imaging and monitoring, so a Bengaluru multinational seat is not counted as national cover.
Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How are medical devices licensed in India?
CDSCO issues import or manufacturing licences under the medical-device rules. An Indian legal entity holds the file. Hospitals and GeM catalogues now ask for that number before they open a vendor code.
Who buys equipment for Indian public hospitals?
AIIMS and other central institutes run their own tenders. GeM is the catalogue many central and state buyers raise against. State medical-services corporations run separate rate contracts.
How does Apollo procurement work for devices?
A central desk issues vendor codes and runs capital committees. Other chains copy the structure but not the calendar. A new importer is not on the list until that desk says so.
Which Indian manufacturers belong on a launch brief?
Poly Medicure and HMD for consumables, Trivitron and Transasia for IVD, Skanray and BPL for electromedical, Meril for stents and implants — each already on public or chain lists.
What does BioNixus study on Indian device accounts?
CDSCO licence-to-SKU traces, AIIMS and state-corporation rate-contract reconstructions, Apollo and peer-chain vendor-code interviews, and district-versus-teaching-hospital installed-base walks.
Is the directory an Indian market-share table?
No. Names appear because they recur in BioNixus hospital and laboratory fieldwork; sequence is by role, not by turnover.
